Supervisors open radio system bids

The Mahaska County Supervisors met in special session Friday morning, Nov. 2, to open bids received for the new 911 radio communications system project.

In early October, the Supervisors announced that they are assuming control of the 911 communications system project.

The first action the board took after assuming control of the project was to contact Motorola and Racom regarding them submitting a bid to the County.

The board indicated at that time that they would use the RFP developed by the EMA commission, while asking the two companies to tailor the RFP towards the state ISICS system. Prior to this action, Motorola had sent a letter to the Mahaska County EMA Commission that they would not bid on the 911 communications system through the EMA commission and wished to work with the County on joining the ISICS system.
