Sheriff Investigates Mahaska County Plane Crash


A mid-afternoon plane crash claimed the life of one person according to a press release from the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office. The crash was reported at 2:20 p.m. Saturday.

According to the initial report, the Sheriff’s Office received the report of the crash at 2082 210th Street, just north of Oskaloosa and west of US 63.

No determination of the cause of the crash has been released, but it is believed the plane may have struck a power line. Federal Aviation Administration representatives were contacted to assist with the investigation.

Only one person, the pilot, was onboard the aircraft. The pilot has not been identified pending notification of relatives.

Mahaska County Sheriff was assisted in the respo9nse and investigation by Oskaloosa Fire Department, Mahaska Health Partnership ambulance, Iowa State Patrol and Mahaska County Emergency Management.
