Sadie Jane’s Poised to Serve Up Sweet Sensations

Sadie Jane’s will be open for business in a couple weeks providing ice cream and sandwiches on the site for the former Vic’ Ice Crème. The venue will have picnic tables and an enclose play area for the children.

Sometimes you just have to do something for yourself, something that makes you happy.

Linda and Kim Porter are doing that very thing. The new owners have renovated the property, which has been the home of Vic’s Ice Crème for the past 50 years, will soon open a new facility on the grounds called Sadie Jane’s. “We wanted to make a living doing something you love,” said Linda Porter. “We want to make this a family and pet-friendly place.”

The first order of business was the demolition of the old facility and replacement with a new one with a slightly larger footprint. Sadie Jane’s will remain a walkup only venue.

In April when Porter came to the New Sharon City Council with her proposal, she told them about her vision of the site.

“The current building is in bad shape,” Porter told councilors. “Because it is so close to the highway we want to move it back. We will have some playground equipment and make it safe for kids to play.”
