MARSHALLTOWN – Amid cool, but sunny conditions cross-country runners from North Mahaska and Sigourney took to the 5,000-meter course at Marshalltown Community College Thursday. Two runners will be heading to Fort Dodge this Saturday to compete in the state meet. Sigourney’s Mason Moore, a junior, placed 13th and North Mahaska senior Cheyenne Shaw placed third.

“It was a fantastic meet to run at,” said North Mahaska coach Kipp Schuler. “In terms of weather and competition, we couldn’t have had a better night.”

As a team, North Mahaska’s girls placed 11th with 301 points. Aplington-Parkersburg won the meet with 59. Sigourney girls had just two runners so did not compete for the team title.
