WAYLAND – North Mahaska saw its season end on the road in the Class 1A Region 8 quarterfinal. It was also the end to the volleyball careers of 10 seniors. NM, 16-12, fell to host WACO, 25-17, 25-19 and 25-14.

North Mahaska was able to keep the set close in the opener, staying within three points most of the way. Zoe Deucore scored a service ace for NM to trail 15-13, but following a side out, WACO’s Lindsey Roth served and her teammates controlled the net to take a 23-14 advantage.

In set two, North Mahaska held the lead early twice, but again the strong net play by Morgan Garber and Lona Farrier kept balls alive, allowing them to put the ball to the floor on the Warhawks. NM has been able to win most long volleys the latter part of the season, but they could not maintain that string against WACO.
