North Mahaska Boosters Become Separate Entity

Changes by the Iowa Department of Education and rules from the state’s athletic association have necessitated a different way for athletic boosters for schools to operate. North Mahaska became the most recent to become a separate entity from the school district it represents.

The trend of separate entities has been growing in recent years. Booster clubs under the direct auspice of school boards are limited on how money is spent, particularly on non-sanctioned events such as shooting and archery. When under the board’s authority spending limits may be in place based on state education and sports association regulations.
