NM Girls Stay Perfect in SICL

North Mahaska’s Kassidi Steel and Emma Terpstra jump for a block of a ball from BGM’s Rylie Gritsch.

North Mahaska’s volleyball team worked hard Monday night and picked up its second conference win keeping them on pace with Belle Plaine, HLV and Montezuma for the South Iowa Cedar League lead. The Warhawks used 14 service aces and strong net play to down BGM, 25-16, 23-25, 25-21, 25-17.

North Mahaska had to rally from behind several times, but stayed the course. In game one BGM led 5-2 when junior Kassidi Steel served up a pair of aces to close the gap. Karlee Chandler served NM to the lead, and then they would add a pair of aces on their way to the win.

Game two was tight until BGM senior Maycee Cline served a four-point swing for a 15-10 lead and NM could never get back on track. Game three was as tight at the first game with aces places another role. Freshman Zoe Deucore hit a pair of aces on points 16 and 17 to take North Mahaska from a 19-15 deficit to a 21-20 lead. Sophomore Madi McKay scorched an ace for the game winner.
