Long Balls Lift NM Past BGM

North Mahaska’s girl’s basketball team has a lot of weapons. They shoot fairly well from the field, rebound, play defense, hit free throws, and at times can hit from 3-point range. It was the final facet that sent the Warhawks to a 66-24 victory over BGM Tuesday.

North Mahaska, 11-2 and ranked 10th in the latest Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union poll, drilled half of its points from beyond the arc. Jade Hay hit four of them and Kassidi Steel added three more long balls for 33 of the team’s 66. Defensively, the Warhawks held BGM scoreless in the third period while scoring 14 points of its own.

“I am proud of the girls tonight,” said NM coach L.E. Moore. “We really moved the ball well and shared it. We were able to get everyone into the game to give them experience.”
