Lamberson Gavels in New Year

New mayor Keri Lamberson presided over the first city council meeting of the year in New Sharon. Lamberson is the first female mayor of the city in its 148 years of existence. Much of the meeting was organizational.

Lamberson’s first official duty was to swear in Josh Crouse as fire chief for the New Sharon Fire Department. Stilwell Library Director Dianna Klinker presented a short report in preparation for budget time. Two items of note were cited. Klinker said the library achieved Tier 1 status and she received her certification as a library director.

New Sharon contractor Alan Lake appeared before the council to ask for a delay in repayment of loan payments on a project he and Jesse Linder received. The two are refurbishing a building in downtown that will house apartments and business entities.

“We should be further along than we are, but we’re not,” Lake told councilors. “I think things are going to take off from here. I feel we will have renters by June.”
