Kubli Sets SICL Mark

North Mahaska senior Chris Kubli achieved the first goal he had for the track season. Now it is time to go after the next. Kubli set a new South Iowa Cedar League mark in the 800 meters to help his team to a fifth place finish at the conference meet in Marengo Tuesday.

Kubli has had his eyes on running the 800 under two minutes and finally broke the mark running away from the field in 1 minutes 59.88 seconds, about 10 seconds faster than the runnerup, Joe Eichorn of Belle Plaine. Kubli’s next goal is to break the North Mahaska record of 1:55 held by Beau Freeborn.
