Keota Long Balls Upend NM Boys

Keota rang up a dozen 3-point shots Thursday to down North Mahaska in a South Iowa Cedar League boy’s game. Keota won 63-47 in the final contest before the holidays.

North Mahaska coach Seth Streebin said the Eagles had a pair of scorers and was willing to let one of them get points, but had to defend the others.

Entering Thursday’s game, JD Stout led the state in all classes with a 27.3 points per game average. He topped that with a 32-point and hit his 1,000th point with jumper at the 5 minute 42 second mark of the third quarter.

“They shoot the ball well and we knew we could not let them get free,” said Streebin. “We wanted to try to control the others knowing he (Stout) would get his points. We have trouble with turnovers and felt we did not do a good job rebounding on the offensive boards.”
