Hite, Brink Open First Session

Two Mahaska County residents took their places at the Iowa Statehouse to begin their terms as representatives. Dustin Hite represents District 79 while Holly Brink represents District 80. The two freshmen were given the oath of office and signed the paperwork on Monday, Jan. 16 to become officially part of the General Assembly.

“I can say that my first week in Des Moines has been great,” said Brink. “I am honored to be representing the district while working alongside the other legislators on policies that will best serve our constituents. I look forward what this session has in store as I continue to learn and work on ways that can help grow our state.” Hite said via his weekly newsletter, like Brink, it has been a week of learning.

“On Monday, we officially gaveled in to start session for 2019,” said Hite. “It has been great to get my feet wet as a freshman representative, and I’ve already had the opportunity to interact with some constituents on the Hill. I look forward to meeting with many more constituents as the year continues."
