Gunn to Show Steer at Governor’s State Fair Event

OSKALOOSA – Matthew Gunn’s celebrity status continues to grow in 2019. Creator of the Best Burger in Iowa at Wood Iron Grille in Oskaloosa, he will participate in the annual Governor’s Steer Show at the Iowa State Fair on Saturday, Aug. 10.

Gunn will show a steer purchased at the Southern Iowa Fair by the Southeast Iowa Merchants. Kinley Lobberecht, 10, is the owner of the steer named Buck. Kinley is the daughter of Jeremy and Kiley Lobberecht and will be a fifth grader at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont this fall. 

The steer show was originated by then Gov. Terry Branstad. Since its inception in 1983, the Governor’s Charity Steer Show has generated over $3.5 million (equivalent to more than 270,000 nights stays) in support of Iowa’s Ronald McDonald House chapters. During that same time, nearly 48,000 Iowa families have been served. Additionally, another 8,000 families coming from all 50 states and more than 60 foreign countries have used the Iowa facilities.
