EBF Season Ends With No. 2 Tipton

Grace Roberts serves up a point.

Entering Monday night’s Class 3A Region 6 volleyball final, Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont coach Gladys Genskow knew her team would have to play well to earn a state berth. Tipton held the No. 2 spot in the final rankings of the season heading into the postseason. The Rockets battled but fell in three sets, 25-14, 25-14, 25-12.

“Playing a No. 2 ranked team, I thought we kept our composure well throughout the match and never got frustrated,” said Genskow. “We served tough, had many touches on the ball to slow it down and we passed pretty well. Despite some of the errors we made, that’s not what lost us the game.”

Genskow said the Tipton was just more experienced and had more talent across the lineup than her Rockets. Tipton played six seniors and three juniors in the match while EBF sported two seniors, three juniors, three sophomores and a freshman.
