Area Projects Receive Paint Grant

Diamond Vogel Paint and Keep Iowa Beautiful announced the grant awards for the 2018 Paint Iowa Beautiful program. The program provides free paint to a wide variety of public service projects throughout Iowa. Four Sun area communities received grants for this year.

The City of Fremont was the lone Mahaska County city to receive a grant. Montezuma, Lynnville and Keota also received grants. City councilor Gabby Evans said the paint will be used to paint the steel light poles downtown.

“This part of a project we are doing to enlarge the Pocket Park,” said Evans. “We are going to enlarge the park back and put a roof on it to make it more user friendly. We are going to add metal planters and tables.”

Under the grant, the city will purchase up to seven gallons of paint and Diamond Vogel will pay the bill.
